The 2005 Energy Policy Act redefines Daylight Saving Time in the United Sates. Canadian enterprises are also affected.
Enterprise managers must analyze and assess the impact of the change comprehensively, in ways comparable to the methods used for the "Year 2000" change.
Customers do not need to upgrade the Argent Job Scheduler product, only the Microsoft Windows operating system is affected.
NO CHANGES ARE NEEDED TO ANY ARGENT PRODUCT.
ALL ARGENT PRODUCTS HANDLE THE TIME CORRECTLY -- BASED ON THE OPERATING SYSTEM'S SETTINGS. BUT IF THE MICROSOFT OPERATING SYSTEM'S VALUES ARE WRONG, THE ARGENT PRODUCT WILL BE ADVERSELY AFFECTED.
WHILE THIS IS NOT AN ARGENT ISSUE, ARGENT BELIEVES IT TO BE ARGENT'S RESPONSIBILITY TO ENSURE CUSTOMERS' AND OTHERS' PRODUCTION SERVERS ALL RUN CORRECTLY, REGARDLESS OF WHO CAUSES THE PROBLEM.
The instructions in Knowledge Base articles KB928388 and KB914387 are helpful and useful, but must be adapted in special situations.
Changes to Microsoft Windows needed to support the new definition of Daylight Saving Time must be planned carefully and tested.
